Some old design studies of mine from 2008 … f r e s h h h h h h h !
Can we just all agree that dubstep is derived from Ed Rush and Optical 45rpm singles being played at 33.3rpm?
I prefer something I can bob my head to over something that makes me walk like a snail but hey, either way, sometimes you just need the gritty, grimy sounds of robots propelling this spaceship we call earth into the future.
This is how the inside of my brain feels sometimes. Ok … most of the time.
My people. My people. My people people p-people. My people. My people. My people people p-people. My people. My people. My people people p-people. My people. My people. My people people p-people…
Had to test this idea out on this cover from a few weeks back…

Here is the finished illo that was critiqued in my MFA program yesterday: Miles Davis in the style of Saul Bass. I had a difficult time balancing the simplistic/conceptual approach with finding a recognizable likeness of Miles.
It could use some reworking of the background but overall I am pretty happy with how it turned out. Plus, I came up with a bunch of new processes when doing this that I plan to try out on future illustrations.
Now on to the rest of my week here in NYC for school!
