The Big Breakup. My cover of The New Yorker, March 29th, 1970.
Inspired by Saul Steinberg.
Heavy Metal! New print and shirts ready in the shop.
"Tim O’Brien must not be human."
First line of my grad school paper about his presentation. Seriously, somebody take that guy to a doctor and find out for real.
Love this portrait of Little Richard - just gotta figure out how to con him into coughing up an original for the walls of my home…
If you drop the bass, please remember to pick it back up…
My cover illustration for this week’s feature story about Bassnectar.
Digging in for a late night … another illo in the works.
This one is driving me crazy.
Here is the finished illo that was critiqued in my MFA program yesterday: Miles Davis in the style of Saul Bass. I had a difficult time balancing the simplistic/conceptual approach with finding a recognizable likeness of Miles.
It could use some reworking of the background but overall I am pretty happy with how it turned out. Plus, I came up with a bunch of new processes when doing this that I plan to try out on future illustrations.
Now on to the rest of my week here in NYC for school!
