I feel very lucky on days like this. Days where my personal and professional interests overlap. Days when I remember the drum and bass LP with that crazy cover that I bought back in high school. Days when I can call legendary graffiti artist Mear One with an illustration assignment and him almost instantly accept the offer.
It’s days like this that remind me why I do what I do. When I realize that everyone and everything that has consciously and unconsciously influenced me over the years comes to a point and those lines from my past to my present and present to future can be clearly drawn in my mind. It’s a good feeling. One that I hope continues to resurface over the years.
The album was “Devious Methods” by Hive, which I still have in my record collection and still think is a great album; musically, structurally, and conceptually. And yeah, that cover art by Mear is still mind-boggling.
